What is Google Maps service area coverage?
Coverage is the share of search points on a ranking grid where the business appears in the results at all. If you show up at 18 of 25 points, coverage is 72%. It is not “average rank”, and it is not a promise that every customer will see you first.
Why coverage beats a single rank
One pin can look fine while the rest of the town is red. A single “you’re #1” screenshot from the office is the most flattering sample you can take. Coverage answers a steadier question: across the area you claim to serve, how often do you appear at all?
