What is a Google Maps ranking grid?

A ranking grid, sometimes called a geo-grid, runs the same Google Maps local search from dozens of points across a town or service area, then plots where the business appears at each point. Green where it ranks well. Red where it does not appear at all. mapvue runs the same kind of grid on Google Maps, Bing Local, and Apple Maps.

Why one search from the shop is not enough

Google personalises local results by proximity. An owner who searches "plumber near me" from the front desk almost always sees themselves near the top. A customer two miles away can get a completely different pack. That gap is invisible until you sample the area, not the office.

Agencies lose renewals on this exact point: the client "checked Maps" and felt fine, while half the service area belonged to a rival.

What a grid reading actually is

Each pin is one real search from that coordinate for one keyword. The scan records rank when the business appears, who occupies the top slots when it does not, and coverage across the whole set of points. Coverage (share of points where you appear) is steadier than any single pin, which is why it leads a mapvue report.

mapvue re-runs the same grid on a schedule so a slide shows up while it is still small, and stores every reading so you can put the same square months apart in front of a client.

From heat map to retainer work

A picture ends the argument. The retainer needs a next action. Every mapvue scan ends with a ranked fix list derived from the geography of that scan: thin listing copy, category mismatches, rivals that own a district, with the figures each item came from. White-label share links and PDFs are included from Agency at $89 a month.
